Year 2 was filled with blessings!

June 1, 2021

Sweet victory in the Lord was how we describe God’s many gifts to us in the past school year (SY 2020-2021). Great is the Lord and worthy to be praised! As March 2020 unfolded, and our students continued to process the many lessons they learned from their enterprise learning visit to Baker’s Counter http://(, President Duterte locked down Metro Manila.  The school closed so suddenly and there was no time to prepare. Like the rest of the country, we had thought Covid-19 was confined to Wuhan, China.

We quickly restructured during the lockdown

We spent the first two weeks waiting for the plague to go away,  but the lockdown stretched on, and on. By mid-April 2020, we noted that many schools, particularly those overseas, had already moved their schooling online.  We had to learn to do this quickly!!! Exploring a number of options was the only way to deal with the reality of OBCCS remaining closed for at least a whole year. Otherwise, our teachers would be out of job, and we would be at a loss what to say to our host of donors, both great and small, who had supported our move to a new community. We had shown our commitment in 2019 by continuing to operate with five teachers and two staff support with only an equal number of paying students! Now, we needed to trust God for how how He would have us serve His people during the pandemic. What was clear was that families needed help in keeping children occupied and learning at home, and not miss a whole year of learning.  So we did what God would have us do with the assets we had. We built on several strengths we already had. Naging maagap, pinahalagahan ang angking yaman at naging masigasig kami sa gitna ng mga hamong kinaharap. We saw we had Internet Connection, teachers had one computer or laptop to work with, and we had the curriculum, so we put our basic elearning knowhow to good use. We quickly restructured and connecting ourselves remotely- some in Rodriguez, others in Quezon City, Bulacan and Agusan del Sur for online teaching and learning. Having quickly connected with the DepEd, we reshaped our school calendar in keeping with guidelines for distance learning and learning continuity. By June 2020 we were ready with our revised curriculum for online learning. We explored a number of e-learning platforms and meeting applications. During the first month of the new school year, we used NeoLMS as learning platform, but upon experiencing the convenience of Google Classroom, which was granted for free by Google to the school as a PCNC accredited institution, the Faculty voted to shift to the latter. The parents also confirmed that they found Google classroom more user friendly.

OBCCS offers DepEd accredited programs from Kindergarten to Grade 10. Master teachers integrate Christian values and enterprise education for students to see the relevance of schooling to their current lives and future as job creators. We were supported by Small Enterprises Research & Development Foundation (SERDEF) in developing our unique curriculum, and have benefitted from years of work with CEFE International, now based in Cologne Germany.
